Before we leave 2011 we wanted to share with you the story of one woman, her daughters, and how MECI impacted has deeply impacted their lives.
Meet Haifa and her daughters
Haifa has been a Counselor's Assistant at MECI since 2007. She has 12 children and often has some of the most impressive suggestions for improvements during MECI team meetings. With her income from MECI, she has brought electricity and added on a much needed room to her house, been the recipient of community service by MECI students who planted a garden known in our program as "a day of seeds for a season of vegetables". Many of her sons and daughters are now enrolled in and benefiting from MECI's after school as well as the summer camp programs.
Haifa's older daughter, Estbraq, is MECI's Music Counselor in the new boys' program and has been taking advanced courses in music instruction. She has traveled to Ramallah twice weekly for special instruction to receive a certificate from MECI partner, the Daniel Burnbaum - Edward Said Music Project.
Estbraq's professional skills have been greatly enhanced by her MECI experience, her students are performing very well in daily music classes, and her future career opportunities have been strongly enhanced.
One family, two incredible women, three generations whose lives thanks to MECI and your support have dramatically improved. MECI is empowering women as role models and positive agents of change now and for the future.
