In the MECI program, we call fine arts the “beautification machine,” because everywhere the MECI team goes, they make beautiful changes to the environment of a school and throughout the community at large. Your support is integral to our beautification machine.
MECI incorporates fine arts into community service by painting murals, creating gifts for visitors such as making clocks while discussing the importance of planning time for work, study, family and play.
After school clubs for middle and secondary school girls from MECI created art exhibitions that included: paintings, handmade crafts, wallets, infants beds, baby shower favors, plastic dolls, clocks, and hats. These craft products were sold to the local community, and the income from the sales is used to purchase materials for their school and the school science lab. Not only are these girls creating beautiful works of art and crafts, they are learning business skills and sales reporting for their project through business/finance clubs.
In March, MECI children, counselors, and volunteer parents visited the neighboring village of Kafr Ein to paint murals on the school walls for the children. This visit was intended to strengthen relationships between the two villages. Murals painted by the children from MECI included themes of healthy eating, team cooperation, the use of bright colors to evoke joy and pleasure in the hearts of children, and educational goals of learning both Arabic alphabets and numbers.
