MECI creates jobs for local women, teaching them how to set up and manage businesses in association with the Deir Ghassaneh Women’s Association, and develop entrepreneurial skills. Today, after training at the Mövenpick Hotel & Resort in Ramallah, the Women's Association is running a catering business and a bakery, which make 300 meals a day for students at local schools. The aim is to help women become economically independent and become leaders in the community. MECI also provides workshops to mothers on the topic of health, hygienne and good parenting.
MECI is providing technical and financial support to create other new social enterprises. Through this partnership, MECI will progressively transfer the operational management and funding of the education program to the women's association to enhance the program’s sustainability, and provide an alternative to aid dependency.
