Our Story
Hope through education, healing, and community
The Middle East Children’s Institute (MECI) was founded in 2005 with a simple belief: the journey to peace begins with education and healing. Since launching our first program in Beit Rima, a small village in the West Bank, MECI has created safe havens where children can learn, women can work, and communities can grow stronger together.
Today, MECI continues to empower children, young adults, and women to overcome conflict, poverty, and violence, offering hope for a more peaceful and prosperous future.
Our Journey
Since 2007, MECI’s holistic after-school program in Beit Rima has grown from one elementary girls’ school to six schools across the Bani Zeid area, serving more than 1,400 students. Building on this success, MECI launched a University Scholarship Program in 2015, supporting 35 promising young men and women to date. In 2020, MECI opened the region’s first internet café to provide digital access for students, teachers, and mothers, followed by a pioneering partnership with Muvik Labs in 2021 to introduce digital breathing therapy and address rising levels of stress and anxiety. In 2024, MECI expanded its reach to Kufr Ein School, marking the beginning of a new chapter of growth.
