MECI Jordan Covid-19 response
• The 15th of March 2020 marked the country’s full transition to online education, including the NFE Dropout Program. The changes happened abruptly but MECI was able to adapt and ensure that the learning journey continues despite obstacles; from creating WhatsApp groups, to monitoring the participants and supervising the teaching plans’ implementation throughout the cycles. As for the outreach operations, mobilizers used digitized registration forms to enroll the new comers – now reaching 1500 learners since the program started.
• In June, MECI Jordan was selected by UNICEF to implement a new psychosocial program in a span of 10 weeks impacting 202 adolescent girls in our Jordanian schools to address elevated stress levels caused by COVID-19.
MECI was also chosen by UNICEF to take the responsibility of 25 additional centers transitioning from another NGO in mid-January 2021. MECI now reaches 10/12 governorates across the country.
• MECI is still conducting monthly online exams as a defining tool to assess the learners’ academic progress. The results allows the facilitators to tailor their teaching methods to each students thus giving them the highest chance to succeed and graduate from the program.
